We are seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers to join us in providing free medical and dental services at the Shaolin Friendship School from April 2–7, 2026. Our work will include eye screening, dental screening, and treatments such as extractions, restorations, and scaling.

Students studying in this boarding school only return home few times a year, and our experience last year showed that many face significant unattended dental and eye health issues—making our mission especially important.

Volunteers will stay at a nearby hotel and commute to the school each day, where you will have the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these students and their community. Along the way, you will also enjoy a rich cultural exchange and the joy of bringing smiles to those in need.

If you are passionate about using your professional skills for a meaningful cause, we warmly invite you to join Smiles Across Cultures 2026!

Introduction

Boai School

Boai School is located in Fengcun, Fazhong Township, Qinshui County, Shanxi Province. It was founded in 2005 by Ms. Chen Zhuhai, an overseas Chinese from the United States. It is a privately-run, publicly-assisted school.

The school has a building area of 5,000 square meters and currently has more than 300 primary school students, all from more than a dozen nearby poor farming families. There are currently twenty-seven teachers employed, recruited from various places, all of whom have undergone professional teacher training; in addition, there are six life teachers who take care of young children.
